Analysis of a systemic review of 11 studies and a meta-analysis including 6 papers show that selenium supplementation increased MDA levels significantly by an average of 0.95 (0.44, 1.45) times (p = 0.0002). Higher Dietary Niacin Consumption Decreases Migraine Risk

Results of the large cross-sectional study show that compared to individuals with lower niacin consumption Q1 (12.3 mg/day), the adjusted OR values for dietary niacin intake and migraine in Q3 (18.4-26.2 mg/day) and Q4 (26.3 mg/day) were 0.78 (95%CI: 0.66-0.92, p=0.004) and 0.74 (95%CI: 0.60-0.92, p=0.009), respectively.  (more…)

Effects of Melatonin for Delirium in Elderly Acute Heart Failure Patients

Dispositional Pessimism Associated with Lower Memory Scores in Older Adults

Dispositional optimism observed in 26-year old subjects correlated with higher scores on matrix reasoning, while higher dispositional pessimism correlated with lower scores on matrix reasoning, vocabulary, and motor skills. 46-year old subjects with higher dispositional optimism correlated with higher memory scores.  (more…)

Higher Serum Lutein and Zeaxanthin Levels Associated with a Lower Risk of All-Cause Dementia

Deficient or Insufficient Vitamin D Levels Associated with Depressive Symptoms in Older Adults

HDL-C & Glucose Levels Measured in Early to Mid-Adulthood Associated with Alzheimer Occurrence Decades Later

Study findings show that elevated glucose levels (15 mg/dL increase) in middle adulthood was associated with a 14.5% increased risk of AD while increased high density lipoprotein cholesterol (15 mg/dL increase) was associated with a 15.4% decreased risk of AD in early adulthood and a 17.9% decreased risk in middle adulthood.  (more…)

Curcumin Consumption Through Dietary Sources Improves Cognitive Functioning Including Executive Function and Attention in Older Adults
